Forecasting Healthy Futures is pleased to welcome you to the 2025 Forecasting Healthy Futures Global Summit at the Sheraton Grand Rio Hotel & Resort in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil from April 8 – 10, 2025. Please find below some practical information related to your upcoming trip and stay in Brazil.

Forecasting Healthy Futures strives to work closely with each year’s incoming COP Presidency and therefore hosts the annual summit in the same location as that year’s hosting country. This enables the COP Presidency planning teams to more easily attend the event, hear critical input from a broad group of stakeholders, and find inspiration for ways health can be integrated in the UNFCCC agenda.
FHF Summit 2025 invites anyone who would like to attend but needs funding to support their travel to apply for travel support. All prospective attendees are welcome to apply but anyone who has received previous funding is ineligible to receive funding this year. Travel Support funds are not guaranteed.
If you would like to attend and need support please submit your application here.
FHF Summit 2025 takes place in English. Please note that we are looking into options to provide translation services to Portuguese and Spanish but as of this moment, FHF Summit will be conducted primarily in English.
FHF Summit 2025 will have an app available for all attendees of the event. The app will enable participants to see the agenda, speaker bios, and interact with each other. Including this information in the app helps us reduce the amount of paper used throughout the event.
More information about the app will be shared with participants directly.
If you are interested in learning more about sponsoring FHF Summit 2025, please reach out to Sarah Kester at Sarah.Kester@forecastinghealthyfutures.org.

Visa requirements to Brazil differ depending on which country you are coming from. Please visit the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Requirements by Country website to learn more. It is important you do research based on your specific location and passport, as this website is focused on those living in the US and requirements will differ on many factors. FHF Global Summit is not responsible or able to assist in your visa application. Some countries are eligible to apply for an electronic visa. You can find more information about that here. Please note that for those who previously were able to enter Brazil without requiring a visa, that requirement changes on April 10, 2025. Per the Brazil Ministry of Foreign Affairs, “Travelers entering the country before April 10, 2025, may stay for the entire duration of their visit without a visa, regardless of their departure date” but we encourage you to do your own research and ensure you are traveling according to any updated requirements.
The FHF Global Summit can provide a Visa Support Letter. If you need one, please email info@forecastinghealthyfutures.org your full name as it appears on your passport, your passport number, and your nationality.
FHF Global Summit is unable to provide any other support in obtaining a visa to enter Brazil.
Hotel accommodations are not included in the registration fee. FHF Summit 2025 is unable to book your hotel accommodations for you. Participants must book their accommodation directly with the hotel of their choosing. We have reserved a reduced rate for a block of rooms at the Sheraton Grand Rio, but availability is limited so please make your reservations early.
FHF Summit 2025 has negotiated a reduced rate room block with the Sheraton Grand Rio. You can register using our room rate at this link.
If you prefer to book your accommodations with the Sheraton Grand Rio by email or phone, use code “FHF” to ensure you receive the discounted rate as part of the room block.
As FHF Summit 2025 takes place at the Sheraton Grand Rio, this is the most convenient hotel to stay at.
Rio de Janeiro has a variety of hotels and accommodations within a reasonable distance from the hotel at a variety of prices. We cannot guarantee a specific rate or quality, but other hotels near the Sheraton Grand include:
Generally, Brazil no longer requires COVID-19 vaccination proof to visit tourist sites. However, the health, safety, and well-being of all participants are extremely important to us, and we have put in place the following safety procedures and recommendations to reduce the risk of COVID-19 transmission:
If you fall ill or are injured while in Rio de Janeiro, you can ask your hotel front desk for assistance or call the Brazilian emergency numbers, which are: 192 (Ambulance Service), 193 (Fire Department), and 190 (Police).
We will have a variety of meal options available that should accommodate the majority of food restrictions. Please send us an email at info@forecastinghealthyfutures.org when you register if you would like to confirm.
Please be mindful of safety when walking around Rio de Janeiro. It is not advisable to carry cell phones, cameras, jewelry, or other valuables conspicuously while walking around. iPhones should remain in your pockets/purses when walking around. If possible, don’t walk alone, especially at night – take an Uber or taxi instead. When walking in groups of foreign people, be discrete, don’t call attention to yourselves, and don’t make it obvious that you are not Brazilian.
Be sure to check your Embassy warnings and do further research on safety and security while in Rio de Janeiro.
There are multiple options for transfers from the airport to your hotel. The Airport website provides information on the bus, airport taxis, car rentals, and more. An UberX from the Airport to the Sheraton Grand Rio should cost around R$100 BRL (~$17). An Uber Black should be just under R$140 BRL (~$24).
You can also reach out to your hotel accommodations to inquire about scheduling airport transfers directly with your hotel.
Due to the location of the Sheraton Grand Rio on a semi-private beach, public transportation is not suggested.
Rio de Janeiro offers many public transit options including Metro Rio, Light Rail (VLT), Bus Rapid Transit (BRT), regular buses, taxis, Ubers, and walking.
You can find more information online and we encourage you to do research before arriving in Brazil.
Ubers, taxis, or private cars are the best and safest options to get to and from the Sheraton Grand Rio. Uber rides around the South Zone of the city – where most of the points of interest in the city are located – should cost less than the quoted prices above between the Airport and hotel.
Rio de Janeiro has a variety of activities, both within the city and outside. If you extend your trip or explore in the evenings, a few of the offerings include:
Please note, suggestions of attractions or links to any sites or tour agencies should not be considered recommendations or references for the company but are intended as informational.
As with any major city, please be mindful of safety when walking around Rio de Janeiro. It is not advisable to carry cell phones, cameras, jewelry, or other valuables conspicuously while walking around. Phones should remain in your pockets/purses and be pulled out only indoors or other safe areas. It is suggested to take an Uber or taxi at night or if alone.
There is no official dress code. However, business casual attire is appropriate for all participants.
Brazil’s water supply conforms to international standards, however it is not potable. It is recommended to drink bottled water.
All participants, speakers, partners, and staff at FHF Summit 2025 and related events are expected to adhere with the following etiquette. Organizers will enforce this etiquette throughout the events to help ensure a safe environment for everybody.
FHF Summit 2025 strives to be a dynamic, inclusive space where policymakers, Ministry staff, technical experts and health practitioners, leaders in business and civil society, researchers and innovators, funders and multilateral institution decision-makers, and others involved in the climate and health field can come together for multidisciplinary conversations, learning and collaboration.
FHF Summit 2025 strives to provide a safe and harassment-free in-person experience for everyone, regardless of gender, gender identity and expression, age, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, ethnicity, legal status, or religion (or lack thereof). We expect participants to follow these rules during the entire event and all its planned activities.
We do not tolerate harassment from participants in any form.
Harassment includes offensive verbal comments related to gender, gender identity and expression, age, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, ethnicity, legal status, religion, technology choices, sexual images in public spaces, deliberate intimidation, stalking, following, harassing recording, sustained disruption of talks or other events, and unwelcome sexual attention.
Sexual language and imagery are not appropriate for any of our sessions or breakouts, breaks or reception, or on social media as related to FHF Summit 2025 and related events.
Participants asked to stop any harassing behavior are expected to comply immediately.
Participants engaging in harassing behavior, making others feel unsafe, or violating these rules may be warned, or asked to leave immediately, at the discretion of FHF Summit 2025 organizers.
If you are being harassed, notice that someone else is being harassed, or have any other concerns, please inform the FHF Summit 2025 Organizing Team or email us.
